What utilities are included in my rent?
Our all-inclusive rent payments take care of your electricity, basic cable, hard-wired Ethernet and wireless internet, water, garbage, and local phone service. There is a $190 electricity cap for each apartment; if the monthly bill is in excess of $190, the difference is divided and billed to each resident in that particular apartment. (Normal electricity use will typically not go over this amount.) The electricity cap for a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment is set at $120.
What size are the beds?
The beds furnished in your bedroom are full-size, extra long. Queen-sized sheets best accommodates these beds.
How close to campus are you?
Vulcan Village is conveniently located one and a half miles from campus. Transportation to and from campus is provided by the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority and the Vulcan Flyer. There is no fee to ride the shuttle buses.
What types of apartments/rooms are available?
We offer a variety of floor plans to suit your needs dependent upon availability. We have 4 bedroom / 4 bathroom; 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom; and 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartments.
What do I need to hook up my computer to the internet?
Basically we have adopted the plug and play philosophy. Once connected to the internet using an Ethernet cord (or by our wireless access), you will be prompted to an antivirus scanning website. Once your computer has passed university regulated anti-virus scans, you will have full connectivity.
Is parking available?
Absolutely! Free parking is available to all residents. We are also located along the Valley 3 Bus Route for added convenience.
What types of leases are available?
We offer two options on our leases; annual and academic leases. The leases for 2012-2013 are August 25, 2012 through July 31, 2013 for the annual lease, or August 27, 2012 through May 31, 2013 for the academic lease.

When can I move in?
The move-in date for Fall 2012 is August 25, 2012. New freshmen moving onto the property must notify the Vulcan Village staff prior to leasing so that we can adjust your leasing document to coincide with the freshmen orientation schedule.
Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?
We want to you feel free to make your apartment your home! Additional furniture may be brought into the apartment; however, the original furniture must remain in place as there are no storage facilities for this.
When is my first payment due?
If you are new to the property for the 2011 - 2012 leasing year, and you choose to pay by installments, the first payment is due by July 15, 2011. Your next installment payment is then due by the first of every month beginning September 1, 2011. You will not receive the keys to your apartment and bedroom if you do not make your first payment in full. Please contact us at 724-938-8990 if you have any questions regarding your specific lease.
If I pay in full, do I get a discount?
At this time, Vulcan Village does not offer discounts to rent paid in full although we encourage you to do so.
Do I have to have a meal plan?
You are not required to have a meal plan; however, should you choose this option, more information can be obtained from the university's website at http://www.calu.edu.
How many people live there?
Our complex accommodates 770 people in 199 apartments, this includes on-site management staff.
When do I put down a deposit?
When you turn in your application, we require that you give us both the application fee $25.00 (non-refundable) and a one-time service fee of $200.00 at that time. If you cancel your application in writing within 48-hours of receiving your lease document from us, you will be refunded the $200.00 service fee. The service fee is only paid one time during a resident's tenure with the property. Please note that the service fee is NOT a security deposit that you receive when you leave your apartment. This is a one-time fee paid to help fund operational costs on the property such as snow removal, fitness center supplies, clubhouse amenities, and landscaping costs.
Can I request an apartment or roommates?
You can request a specific apartment and specific roommates, but there is no guarantee that we can honor your request due to previous requests and availability. We do our best to try to accommodate your requests.

What if I need to cancel my lease?

What do I do if I have roommate issues?
All roommate issues are handled with the utmost seriousness and privacy by our management staff. Please see your Community Assistant for roommate issues as soon as they arise so they can help you alleviate the situation. Room transfers are available if occupancy permits.
